2. FIRGAS

Warum besuchen: Firgas, vor allem bekannt für seine Produktion von Mineralwasser, ist ein malerisches kleines Dorf im Norden der Insel – ein perfektes Ausflugsziel für die ganze Familie!
Sehenswürdigkeiten: Die wichtigste Sehenswürdigkeit ist “Paseos de Canarias y de Gran Canaria”, ein 30 Meter langer artifizieller Wasserlauf, der zwischen den Häusern hindurchführt, gesäumt von typisch kanarischen Häusern mit Bänken und liebevollen Bildern von Landschaften und Symbolen der Kanarischen Inseln. Auch die Kirche “Iglesia de San Roque” ist einen Besuch wert.
Und sonst?: Firgas ist ein kleines Dorf, aber mit beeindruckenden Zahlen. Es ist schon 520 Jahre alt und produziert 200.000 Flaschen Wasser am Tag.

3. MOYA

Warum besuchen: Moya is ein ruhiges kleines Dorf im Norden von Gran Canaria, dass spektakulär an einem Berghang mit Blick auf den “Barranco de Moya” gelegen ist. Spazieren Sie durch die kleinen Gassen und genießen Sie die Aussicht auf die umliegenden Täler vulkanischen Ursprungs.
Sehenswürdigkeiten: Die “Iglesia de Moya” ist eine schöne neoromanische Kirche mit interessanten Skulpturen, die immer einen Besuch wert ist. 4. PUERTO DE LAS NIEVES

Warum besuchen: das malerische kleine Fischerdorf ist wunderschön an der Küste gelegen und befindet sich in der Nähe des schönen Naturparks “Parque Natural de Tamadaba” mit einer vielfältigen Vegetation und vielen Tälern.
Sehenswürdigkeiten: Sie können die kleine Kirche “Ermita de Nuestra Señora de las Nieves” besuchen, deren ganzer Stolz eine Holzmalerei der Heiligen Junfrau des holländischen Künstlers Joos Van Cleve ist. Aber am Schönsten ist die Promenade “Paseo de los Poetas” mit vielen Fischrestaurants und Handwerksläden. Von hier aus hat man einen wunderschönen Ausblick auf das kristallklare Wasser und auf die Nachbarinsel Teneriffa. Im Süden des Dorfes befindet sich der 30 Meter hohe Basaltfelsen “Dedo de Dios”(“Finger von Gott”), der auch ein Foto wert ist.
Und sonst?: Falls Sie einen Ausflug nach Teneriffa machen wollen, können Sie in Puerto de las Nieves die Fähre nehmen.

Reason to visit: The little fishing village is beautifully situated on the coast and is located next to the spectacular nature reserve “Parque Natural de Tamadaba” full of deep valleys and a diverse vegetation.
Attractions: You can visit the small church “Ermita de Nuestra Señora de las Nieves”, which features a lovely wood painting of the Holy Virgin by the Dutch artist Joos Van Cleve. But the most beautiful place is the promenade “Paseo de los Poetas” with many seafood restaurants and craft shops. From here you have a beautiful view of the crystal clear waters and to the neighboring island of Tenerife. In the south of the village you will find the 30 meter high basalt rock “Dedo de Dios” (“finger of God”), which is well worth a photo.
Anything else?: If you want to make a trip to Tenerife, you can take the ferry from Puerto de las Nieves.

5. GÁLDAR

Warum besuchen: Die schöne Stadt war einst das Zentrum des Lebens der Ureinwohner der Insel (die Guanchen), dann Haupstadt der Insel und heutzutage ist sie vor allem für ihre archäologischen Funde und wegen ihrer historischen Gebäude bekannt.
Sehenswürdigkeiten: Das Highlight von Gáldar (der Name bedeutet übrigens “königliche Stadt” ist natürlich das Museum “Museo y Parque Arqueológico Cueva Pintada”, das 2006 wieder eröffnet wurde und archäologische Funde und geometrische Malereien der Ureinwohner austellt. Andere Sehenswürdigkeiten sind die Kirche “Iglesia de Santiago de los Caballeros” und der Drachenbaum im Hof des Rathauses, der 1718 gepflanzt wurde und somit einer der ältesten Drachebäume der Kanaren ist.
Und sonst?: In der näheren Umgebung von Gáldar gibt es viel zu sehen und zu tun. Zum Beispiel, den wunderschönen Strand “Playa de Sardina del Norte” mit seinem goldenen Sand und vielen Restaurants, die “Caldera de los Pinos de Gáldar”, ein Krater vulkanischen Ursprungs von dem man einen wunderschönen Ausblick hat, oder der archäologische Ausgrabungsort “Túmulo de la Guancha”, wo die Ureinwohner Ihre Toten bestatteten.

Attractions: The highlight of Gáldar (the name means “royal city”) is, of course, the museum “Museo y Parque Arqueológico Cueva Pintada”, which opened again in 2006 and exhibits archaeological finds and geometric paintings of the indigenous people. Other attractions include the church “Iglesia de Santiago de los Caballeros” and the dragon tree in the courtyard of the city hall, which was planted in 1718 and thus is one of the oldest dragon trees of the Canary Islands.
Anything else?: In the vicinity of Gáldar there is much to see and do. For example, the beautiful beach “Playa de Sardina del Norte” with its golden sand and many restaurants, the “Caldera de los Pinos de Gáldar”, a volcanic crater from which you have a beautiful view, or the archaeological site “Túmulo de la Guancha “where the aboriginal people buried their dead.
